This is a circular bronze medal of Mary I of England. On the obverse, it bears the bust of Queen Mary I of England looking to our left, with her body to the waist, turned three-quarters to the front. The bas-relief, undulating pattern of her dress contains a scrolling pattern. A slightly opened stand-up collar reveals an inner contrasting collar with slight frills at the top and three rows of decorative fabric below. Around her neck hangs a bronze simulation of a pendant made of large diamonds and an extraordinarily large, pear-shaped pearl. A tight fitting cap loops under her chin and is edged at the back by a row of jewels. Tresses of hair are seen falling down her neck and back, and a few wisps are seen at her brow. A Latin inscription encircles most of the metal and a row of continuous bead-like forms line the edge. The reverse side is decorated with a large goddess of peace. She sits prominently in the center, clothed in a draped dress and robe, a crown on her head. Her right hand is raised behind her head with a branch, and her left hand is extended forward and downward with a torch with which she is lighting a jumble of indistinct objects on the lower right. On the lower left several outlines of human figures huddle together under a storm cloud from which lines of rain shower down. A capital-like structure rises above the fire of war instruments on our right. A short Latin inscription encircles the top half of the medal. Similar to the front, a continuous row of bead-like ornaments edge the metal.
