This European silver Sauce Boat is a swallow, oblong vessel with an elongated lip for pouring and an oblong loop of thin silver for a handle. The top of the Sauce Boat appears to have been hammered to create ripples or scallops around the edge. The outside has an incised design of small flowers and flowing foliage. The Sauce Boat sits on a rounded base built up of four or five graduated levels of plain silver rings.
