Choreographers-in-Residence

The Choreographer-in-Residence program is both an extension of the Museum’s long-standing Artist-in-Residence program and a continuation of its commitment to multidisciplinary programming and partnerships in keeping with Isabella’s vision and legacy.

Isabella Stewart Gardner surrounded herself with creative people—musicians, painters, writers, scholars, and dancers. During her lifetime, Fenway Court was a venue for concerts, a gathering place for thinkers—and even a place for artists to work. The Choreographer-in-Residence program was launched in 2018 as part of a bold new initiative to animate the galleries with contemporary performances and integrate dance into exhibitions and programs.
