The image in this vertical print on paper is identified by the printed inscription at the bottom as St. Bernardino da Siena by Bartolomeo di Montagna. The gaunt, mostly bald saint is standing, turned and looking slightly to our right. He is light-skinned and wears a full-length robe and slip-on sandals on his bare feet. The saint holds a book in his right hand, near his waist. His left arm is bent upward and holds upright an item in the shape of a mirror that has a vertical base and circular disk. On either side of his body hang three identical hats that would be worn by a church official. The saint’s haloed head is topped by an archway held up by slender columns at the left and right sides of the print.
