This lithograph of three Canada geese flying is rendered in shades of black and white on light gray paper,  The geese take up the center of the composition, the largest in the middle of the page with a slightly smaller second goose at the same level but slightly in front on our right, and a third, also smaller, behind and higher than the middle goose.  The geese seem to have just risen out of the water as they have left splashes beneath them.  Each goose has the typical markings of Canadian geese:  dark head and neck, tail feathers, wing tips, and throats; white rings around the bottom of their neck, and a  V-shaped stripe bisecting their tail feathers. The remainder of their bodies and wings are rendered in tones of gray. Their black feet hang below them, wings raised in a V-shape and mouths open. While the three geese dominate this scene, the setting is a slightly wavy large body of water with a thin strip of land visible at the horizon. Areas of the sky are heavily shaded suggesting dark clouds. A plain, narrow, gray border edges the four sides. The artist has signed his name, “Frank W. Benson,” in the border at the left bottom and printed  his initials, “FWB” in the lower right just above the border.
