This Bulgarian postcard dates from the late 19th to early 20th century and has ink on card stock. The central figure is a dark horse descending a vertically inclined hill. The horse’s front legs are extended down the hill. The rider is bent backwards with his back almost resting on the horse’s back. The rider is dressed in a grey outfit and wears a small cap. His hands grasp the reins at his lower torso. The hillside has sparse tufts of grass. To our right at the bottom of the hill is a small stream. A cloudless sky is in the distance. Printed at the bottom of the postcard and on verso is the following text: “École de cavalerie - Sophia / Carte Postale” with other text in Cyrillic alphabet and inscribed in pencil verso in bottom right is “[J.H. Hyde file]”.
