The central figure is a woman sitting on a chaise lounge, with one leg extended to our left on top of the chaise and the other leg bent toward the floor. The woman is wearing a very low-cut, long pale green dress with white ruffles at the sleeves and the hem. Her light curly hair is topped with a headpiece with three knots. In her right hand she holds a folded item that rests between her legs. She turns in the direction of a man in profile at the lower right edge of the etching. The man is down on one knee, holding a square green pillow on which the woman has placed her left elbow. Opposite that man, at the foot of the chaise, is another man in profile, seated on some books and leaning forward onto the chaise. Behind him and to his left there is another seated man facing forward and preoccupied with a task. On the chaise, behind the woman, there is a small, alert black dog turned toward the woman. The background is open, with almost abstract rocks and trees. The man at the lower right edge is wearing a medium green coat and red breeches and there are tones of tan, light green, white, and black throughout. Across the bottom of the etching is the writing TUTTO CEDE ALLA BELTÀ (Everything Yields to Beauty).
