This vertical charcoal and chalk drawing on paper depicts a figure standing in profile and staring straight ahead to our left. The person is wearing a large black top hat, a long dark coat over a white collared shirt, black pants and black dress shoes. A walking cane is tucked under the right arm, pointing upwards at an angle towards our right. The person is light-skinned with short hair depicted in various shades of gray. The top hat and the head of the figure is drawn larger in size than the body, legs and feet. The figure casts a short dark shadow behind them onto a lightly sketched horizon to our right. On the horizon, a sign post in the shape of a “T” and a leafless tree are faintly sketched. The sign reads “Paris, Mar 1890.”
