Rice Bowl and Cover, late 19th century - early 20th century

From late 19th or early 20th Century Japan, this simple Rice Bowl and Cover is made of beige glazed ceramic with brown, disjointed lines running vertically from top to bottom. The small bowl sits on a narrow, round base, and gently curves up and out to the top lip. The rim of the lid bears a thin, dark brown line around its edge. The upward rounded lid rests firmly on the bowl’s upper lip and terminates at the top in a circular, short, knob, presumably for lifting the lid.
