Web Commentary
Six Chinese lacquer doors line the walls of the Worthington Street entrance. Each features a peony blossom in the center along with characters expressing a sentiment such as, “Good Luck” and “Perfect Happiness.” By placing these doors and many other Asian architectural fragments in her private entrance, Gardner created a space that may have felt like her own temple passageway.
