Worthington Street Lobby

112

The door on Worthington Street (now Palace Road) was Isabella Stewart Gardner's personal entrance, through which she accessed her private residence on the museum's top floor. Chinese and Japanese wood carvings, one featuring two rabbits sitting in a glade, surround the lobby. Three flower-pickers mounted in a cane rack invite us to imagine Gardner heading out the door to gather roses from her garden.
