This Italian, burgundy silk velvet curtain is embroidered with polychrome silk yarns and has couched silver and gilt yarns in an arabesque design of intertwined floral and vine motifs. The black central medallion depicts the Archangel Michael with outstretched wings fighting the devil, who is represented by a red figure. This piece has several areas where the fabric is worn.
