This sculpted, seated figure of a dog is made of green glazed earthenware. The dogs’ legs, tail and body are minimally sculpted. The dog’s face reveals a prominent snout, slightly open jaw with canine teeth, rounded indentations for its eyes, and ear-like protuberances toward the back of the head.
Isabella Stewart Gardner kept meticulous records of many of her acquisitions. In keeping with this legacy, object information is continually being reviewed, updated, and enriched in order to give greater access to the collection.
