A Red Verona Marble solid block has a flat top upon which another stone object is currently being supported. The block also has its back vertical face against a brick wall. Its visible front vertical side is decorated with a snake-like creature. The creature’s tail loops towards its tip, to our left. Towards our right, the body becomes thicker and curves its neck downward, and backward. The beast’s head, seen from profile, resembles that of a bird with a large eye, a damaged thick and curved beak, and what could be a rooster’s wattle. It also has round, protruding ears. Most of the creature’s body is decorated with parallel rows of small holes, perhaps evoking scales. However, its neck seems to be covered in feathers. Pieces of the marble have been chipped off and worn away.
