This rectangular, impressionistic painting of a chapel in the cathedral of Reims is executed primarily in vivid shades of gold, pink, and blue.  A large column rises up the left side of the painting. It is painted in shades of gold and pink.  A small rail, also painted in golden yellows, runs horizontally along the bottom third of the painting.  A gold chair is painted in front of the rail on the left and the floor in front is painted in quick strokes of all three colors.  The rail has an opening in its middle which leads us to the altar area painted in darker shades of blue and pink.  The altar itself is gold against the back wall with three long stained glass windows above.  There are five arches in the lower part of the wall along the right side of the altar area.  The foreground of the painting is dominated by a large black iron lantern-shaped light hanging from the ceiling.  The painting is signed and dated in a small black scroll under the column to the left.
