The tapestry features an expanse of ice, centered on a woman sitting in an ornate sleigh, being pulled by a horse and driven by a man behind her. The group moves along the tapestry from left to right. The man has a whip in his raised left hand, whip streaming in the breeze. In the background, you can see a bridge with boats on the other side of it. To the right of the bridge there are tourettes and a large stone wall. At the base of the wall and across the ice from the woman on the sleigh is a man helping a woman up from the ice. She appears to have fallen. In the foreground are flowers, and the scene is populated by large trees in the right and left sides of the tapestry. In the lower right corner a man sits by the bank of the ice and extends his hands to the lady in the sleigh, who is looking away from him. The colors, blue, red, green, blue-green, and tan, show strong contrasts of value.
