Spanish, rectangular, vertical hanging with a cream colored silk ground embroidered with polychrome silk yarns and couched metal threads. The embroidery features a gray double-headed bird in the center of the hanging. There is a gray crown above the bird’s head and a large, gray, flower, possibly a sunflower, below the bird’s tail. Above the crown is a gray pomegranate, with a halo of blue foliage around it. From the central scene are mirrored additions along both sides of the hanging. Two small yellow leaves with long stems curl out from the halo in opposite directions. On opposite sides below the leaves are two pale yellow butterflies. Below each of the butterflies is a pale bird with a sprig in its beak. The bird is highlighted with black feathers in its breast and pale blue and orange feathers in its wings. Each of the birds hovers over a sunflower, this time created with pale orange threads. The sunflowers are grouped with leaves and dark gray butterflies. Surrounding the large gray sunflower are two blue flowers, several pale orange flowers, two birds again with floral sprigs clasped in their beaks, and two butterflies. The flowers extend from green vines at the base of the hanging. Framing the hanging is a metallic braid.
