Italian, rectangular, gilded poplar table with rounded edges. The top of the table is made of a light gray antico marble. The skirt has a pattern carved wavy lines around the entire edge, and an ornately carved vine and foliate pattern in relief underneath. The table has 4 S-shaped (cabriole) legs that are also carved in relief with a single flower in the center and vines at the top. The feet of the chair are carved with round leaves.

Commentary
This gilt marble-topped table was not made all at once: its toupie feet and aprons are later additions, painstakingly carved, punched, and gilded to blend with the rest of the frame. Changing fashions may have called for a taller table height with more ornate decoration.
