Corner Console (Console ad angolo), late 18th century
Painted and gilded walnut and pine with a marble top, 78.9 x 67.9 x 68 cm (31 1/16 x 26 3/4 x 26 3/4 in.)
This floating corner console table fits directly beneath the white molding that goes all around the Raphael room. The top of the console is polished green variegated marble more than one-inch thick. Below the marble, the edge of the table is painted yellow pine with gilded moldings at the top and bottom and gilded flower and leaf appliqués. The two painted yellow table legs curve in from the table bottom to meet at the wall. In the space where the legs meet, seven gilded branches are held together with a gilded bow.
