This is a gilded copper cross of a size and structure to be carried and placed on a table or altar. The base is made of two pieces of dark brown wood, with a smaller worn square piece atop a wider square. A gilded stem rises from the base to a circular orb leading up to the intricately shaped cross with detailed, hammered gilding depicting a crucified Jesus at its center.  At the horizontal ends of the cross are figures hammered into the thin metal; to our left possibly a winged lion, and to our right possibly a winged horse. At the base of the cross is a figure in a robe with a halo behind their head, holding and pointing to a book. At the top of the cross is a bird, possibly an eagle. The gilding has an aged golden bronze color, with some small areas worn or missing, and nails that attach the copper to the darker, wooden core are visible. A border of tiny repousse beading is at the edges, and decorative shapes surround the figures.
