Stool (Sgabello), 18th century - 19th century

This stool has an upholstered seat on a gilded walnut frame with four legs. The fabric on the seat is decorated in a floral motif. Appliqued on the white background are pastel, mostly pink, flowers with pale green leaves and stems. A band of white ribbon attaches where the seat fabric meets the wood all around the stool. Each of the four cabriole legs curves out at the knee and in at the ankle with a carved foot. A small carved decorative piece is placed at the top of each leg.
