This small oil painting is set in Tunis, in northern Africa, and depicts a group of about 10 dark skinned figures walking on a light tan walkway away from the viewer toward an arched gateway. The figures are dressed in white, green, brown and light gray long robes and wear white and red turbans. A small child is to our right edge of the group dressed in brown and wearing a red turban. Three tall banners are visible; two red ones are in the daylight and one is darkened as it is under the archway. The arched entrance is in the center of the painting. There is a contrast between the bright white and tan buildings and the dark blue passageway. There is a small rectangular window to our right that is boarded with brown wood.
