Purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner from Giuseppe Giacomini, an administrator of the Borghese family estate, Rome for 6,250 lire on 16 March 1895, through the Roman banker Mr. Sebasti of the firm of Sebasti & Reali.
Commentary
Isabella Stewart Gardner kept meticulous records of many of her acquisitions. In keeping with this legacy, object information is continually being reviewed, updated, and enriched in order to give greater access to the collection.
