A rectangular commode made of painted and gilded pine. The commode is about waist height and painted in a light blue as the primary color. It has two drawers, one large and one small. The smaller drawer, taking up one quarter of the commode, is on top and has a ring-shaped metal handle placed in the center. A garland of leaves and flowers spans the drawer face. A golden, beaded frame surrounds the drawer face. The beading can be found around all rectangular panels on the commode. To the left and right of the drawer are vertical rectangles painted red and decorated with a carved tassel of a man’s face with three leaves below. The red rectangles and carved tassels also appear on the top corners on each side of the piece. A red panel separates the drawers. The bottom drawer, which takes up the lower three-quarters of the drawer, has two ‘U’ shaped handles on the top right and top left. A keyhole is centered between the two. A larger version of the garland with a few extra embellishments adorns the drawer. The garland curls to the far right and far left have an oval-shaped flower in the center with a tassel hanging down. Two strands that resemble pearl necklaces connect the tassel to a branch of the garland. To either side of the drawer are red vertical panels with a gold straight vine of leaves on each. On the sides of the commode are similar smaller gilded leaf decorations. Around the bottom of the commode is a pattern of gold leaves with the point facing down, followed by another red section. The four legs of the commode are made up of a small red square with a gold flower on each side, which is connected to the body and then to an inverted pyramid decorated with a red triangle with gold beading on each face.
