Champlevé enamel and gilding on copper, 11 cm (4 5/16 in.)
This is a French pyx made of champlevé enamel on copper. This dark blue round vessel has a cone-shaped lid with a cross atop. The lid has a copper colored image of a winged angel’s torso in a light blue and white circle in the center of the front and back. A white and light blue triangular decoration is on the sides of the lid. A similar angel image is on the sides of the actual vessel. The clasp to open the pyx is a small straight metal piece secured with two metal pieces beside it. Below the clasp is white and light blue scroll-work. The container has gold scroll-work throughout.
