Lace Chalice Veil, early 18th century

This square, white Italian chalice veil was created with needlepoint lace. The design of this veil includes medallions and leaves. A large medallion with leafy branches extending in the four directions is centered on the veil. Four additional medallions with a single leafy branch are within each corner of the border. This border is formed by two simple chains separated by a row of single leaves on each of the four sides of the veil.
