This relatively narrow, white lace collar was created by a technique in which the stitches are made with a single needle and thread; it is also known as needlepoint lace. The top edge of this collar has a simple, chainlike edge; the side and bottom edges are scalloped. While much of the body of the collar is openwork, it is scattered with a leaf motif and has medallions along the bottom and side edges.
