This miniature ivory plaque depicts the Crucifixion of Christ. The scene is set into the ivory with a simple rectangular border. Decorative arches fill the top third of the plaque, with portions covering the cross. Christ is centered over the cross with his head tilted to his right shoulder and his lower body twisted to his right as well. He is wearing what appears to be a crown on his head and a loincloth draped over his body from his waist to his knees. To our left, three beardless figures with head coverings stand next to the cross, two of them looking away, and one looking at Christ’s face. To our right, two bearded figures stand with their heads bent and their shoulders hunched. A third figure, beardless, nearest to the cross, has their right hand on their cheek, their head slightly bowed, looking in the distance. The ivory is uniformly a beige tone, and there is a crack in the top center of the plaque.
