This set of five armchairs dates from the late 19th century in Italy and are made of painted and partly gilded walnut and chestnut with gilded brass. The rectangular back and seat are upholstered in pale pink damask fabric that is attached with large brass tacks. The side rails of the back are topped with circular finials. There are curved carved wood arms. The front legs are square with gilded decoration. The front stretcher is made of strips of gilded wood in a intertwined chain-like configuration. The rear rectangular legs and bottom stretcher are plain.
