Placed against the wall above a tall window, this high-relief carved wood, Italian panel is gilded in its entirety except for the relatively flat, narrow strip of ground, scored by irregular deep gashes, upon which three figures stand. The central focus consists of two, idealized men, with forward bent shoulders facing each other and holding a large woven basket between them. Their foreheads support the basket. The basket overflows with leaves, a single flower in the center, and a pear on each side. The men wear loosely draped fabric around their waists, terminating behind each man in a thick tail-like train composed of flowing leaves from which two flowers and two pears hang. Between the two men and directly under the basket, a child stands on a slight incline on the ground with the basket resting on top of his head and the palm of his raised left hand. The child seems to be clothed in a shirt and shorts with a garland of leaves encircling his waist and falling to the ground on each of his sides.
