This is a set of six French pine side chairs with rush seats.  The wood is an aged-looking, medium brown with possible remnants of a darker stain worn away from use.  The seat is a square shape of deeply tan rush, woven in from each side to cross in the middle and create an X in the center from the four corners. The seat is set on a boxy base of four wooden corner legs joined by two layers of wooden horizontal supports.  The legs are turned with vertical oblong boxes and smaller cylinders, and the horizontal supports are also turned with more cylindrical design.  The wooden seat back is in the general shape of an upright rectangle, with lightly turned supports on the outer sides and two curvilinear slats on the inner back. The seat top is symmetrically curved and carved with motifs of a central scallop and outer designs that may be a curving floral or possibly a fishtail.
