Perfume Bottle with Case, 18th century
Cut glass with gold fittings; leather case, 8.3 x 5.1 x 1.9 cm (3 1/4 x 2 x 3/4 in.)
This three-inch long French glass perfume bottle with a gold screw on top is tear-shaped. The entire surface of the bottle is cut-glass in small diamond shapes. The gold rounded top is longer than wide and is plain, other than two indented rows encircling its bottom. The perfume bottle is displayed next to a dark green, possibly leather, carrying case with two hinged openings, one about a fourth of the length from the top, and the other equidistant from the bottom. Two small, gold-colored knobs appear to be used to fasten these openings shut.
