The surface of this porcelain perfume bottle has been delicately painted over a glossy white background. The bottle rests on a white base rimmed with gold. The sides gradually curve up and out to form the body, and then taper up to the neck. Gilding enhanced by violet and turquoise color decorate the bottom, sides, and top of the bottle. On one side, a scene along a river is in the body’s center. In the fore- and mid-ground is a grassy shoreline with several tall green trees. In the background is an arched bridge with buildings and church spires behind. Gilding rims the top the bottle and base of the stopper. The shell-like stopper is decorated with gilding, violet and turquoise color, with the image of a tiny, deep blue insect in the center.  The other side is similarly decorated. The image in the center is of a spray of multi-colored flowers with green stems and leaves. The stopper is decorated with a lady bug.
