Entered the collection of Isabella Stewart Gardner and her husband John L. Gardner, Jr. (1837–1898) in 1883 by inheritance from John's mother.
Commentary
Isabella Stewart Gardner kept meticulous records of many of her acquisitions. In keeping with this legacy, object information is continually being reviewed, updated, and enriched in order to give greater access to the collection.
