This etching depicts the head and shoulders of a woman who is seated in front of a window covered with a transparent curtain. Because the woman is in front of a window, which is the source of light, her face is in a shadow, except for her jawline to our right. Wisps of her dark hair are visible, and she has large dark eyes and full lips. She stares directly outward with a melancholy expression on her face. Her blouse has a large collar and a billowy bow. She clasps her hands at her chest. This piece is signed and dated in the lower left corner.
