This small rectangular etching, positioned horizontally, depicts an outdoor scene on the ice on a dark, cold night. The ice is represented by numerous dark horizontal and diagonal lines. A figure wearing a long dark garment stands on the ice in the front corner to our right. Their left arm is bent with their hand resting on their hip; the other arm blends in with the ice. The figure appears to be hatless, with dark hair pulled back from their forehead. Their eyes gaze downward; a face covering hides the figure’s mouth and chin. In the background, lights and shadows indicate life on the other shoreline.
