Nightstand (Comodino), 1750-1799
Poplar, veneered with mahogany, with inlays of rosewood and citronnier, 74.2 x 53 x 31.5 cm (29 3/16 x 20 7/8 x 12 3/8 in.)
Italian, rectangular wooden nightstand with two front facing rectangular drawers. Each drawer has a metal-rimmed keyhole in the top center. The drawers are decorated with overlapping diamond designs, with variations of dark, medium, and light stained wood. All the edges of the diamonds are outlined with thin wood. This pattern is repeated in a rectangle on the top and sides of the stand. There is a thick border framing each design that is a brown stained wood. The nightstand has 4 short legs that slightly curve inward and protrude back out in a loose 'S' shape.
