This image of Franz Liszt is rendered in ink on a rectangular sheet of white paper positioned vertically. Liszt faces to our left, although his face is not completely in profile. His chin-length, straight hair falls back off his forehead and down over his ears. His dark eyes are deep-set with spider wrinkles at the corners. His nose is long and slightly points in, his mouth is pursed, his graze is forward and his expression is serious. Liszt wears a dark shirt with a band color under a jacket. The drawing fads out below and to the sides of the lapels. To our left of the figure’s face, written in script, is the subject’s name. Words in similar script appear below the figure.
