This scene is set against multi-colored clouds of pale blues, greens, reds, oranges, and pinks. The clouds resemble lily pads against a dark bluish-greenish sky. The central image shows the Virgin sitting on a multi-colored cloud and holding a standing baby Jesus. Mary is dressed in a red and gold heavily patterned robe with a lime green lining over a deeper red gown with gold cuffs. She wears a white head covering over her hair under the robe's hood, behind which is a halo. Mary looks downward, but not at the baby Jesus, but past him. She holds the baby close to her chest, cheek to cheek, with one arm around him and her hand on his shoulder. She has placed her other hand across his belly. The baby is naked except for a light "loin cloth"-like diaper. He is quite chubby with pudgy knees, folds at his belly, and wrinkles of baby fat at his ankles. He has a cherubic face, double chin, blondish curly hair and a halo, and blue eyes that look up and out from the scene. On clouds to either side of the Mother and Child are two cherubic heads with haloes and wings but no bodies. One cherub has green wings, the other dark red.
