At the center of this peaceful country scene is a fountain that has water pouring into a pool out of its single spout.  In front of the fountain is a group consisting of a white cow, a brown calf, two sheep and a light-skinned male figure.  He appears to be a shepherd, as he carries a switch over his left shoulder.  He wears a brown hat, has long brown hair, a light green tunic, a brown cape draped over his left shoulder and right arm, blue pants and light tan boots.  A stream is visible across the bottom of this painting.  A female figure is seated on the shore, wearing a blue and white dress.  She has long brown hair and light skin and looks over her shoulder at the shepherd.  A young child stands to our right, leaning on the woman.  This child has brown curly hair and light skin, is barefoot and has on a reddish tan and white garment.  The child gazes at the viewer. The woman reaches for a basket with her left arm.  There is a light gray shawl and a gourd-like vessel on the ground to our left.   A figure is seen to our left of the fountain and faces away from the viewer.  The fountain is surrounded by green and brown trees, with one particularly tall tree on our left.   Buildings are visible in the distance on the right side of this painting.  The pale blue sky has fluffy pinkish clouds.
