Inscribed (on back of frame): Engraved in 1793 by William Ward after the painting by Fulton. Ward was a very eminent mezzotint-engraver, and was brother of James Ward the celebrated animal painter. / This print is very rare and especially so in proof state. / Fine Proof / 18.

Purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner from Frederick Keppel & Co., New York on 13 April 1885 for $18.
