Pocket Watch, 1870-1875
Silver, 6.7 cm (2 5/8 in.)
This silver pocket watch has a white face with black hands and large black roman numerals. At the bottom center of the face is a second, smaller circular clock that marks seconds. There is a circular fluted knob at the top center that is encircled by a round loop. The back is plain silver. The watch fits into a velvet lined leather box such that the face is visible through an opening in the lid. There are signs of wear on the leather box. The interior lining is stamped with: Payne & Co., Jewellers, 163 New Bond Street, London.
