Torso and Right Leg of Dionysus, late 1st century BCE - early first century CE

This is a fragmented Greek marble sculpture of Dionysus. The carved marble is white with significant irregular, buff color veins. Most of the veins run vertically. The statue is missing a head, arms below the shoulders, the left leg entirely, and the right leg below mid-thigh. In the remaining torso, he is slim, with narrow shoulders and subtly contoured musculature in his chest, abdomen, back, and buttocks. On each side of his neck, there is a single lock of long, curly, hair.
