This is a handwritten version of the program for the Boston Symphony Orchestra concert on January 1, 1903. It is handwritten in graphite on white paper. At the top is a handwritten line: Symphony Hall Opening. Centered below are the words FENWAY COURT printed in black ink. Below are two handwritten columns. To the left is a list of musical works, reading from top to bottom: “Choral”, “Magic Flute”, “Chasseur maudit”, and “Overture Scherzo and finale”.  Correspondingly on the right is a list of the composers: “J.S. Bach”, “Mozart”, “C. Franck”, and “Schumann”. The columns for these lists are not precise. The column of composers is gradually pushed to the right as the list goes on and the musical works get longer, and “Overture Scherzo and Finale” takes up two lines, with “Schumann” written right-adjusted below those lines. Very faintly under these lists, also written in graphite, is the date “Jan 1st 1903”. The words are written in cursive and written loosely as if done quickly.
