The Gardner Museum’s mature jades are covered in clusters of star-like flowers from late fall through early winter. The largest of the flowering jades, with trunks six inches in diameter, have been in the Gardner’s living collection since the mid-twentieth century. Isabella cultivated jade plants in her greenhouses at her home Green Hill in Brookline, Massachusetts alongside her impressive collection of bonsai trees.
