This program is made of ink and graphite on paper. The front has the seal of the New England Conservatory of Music at the top center which is followed by text. This text is bordered by a thin gold line. On verso is the program that includes works by Scarlatti, Brahms, Chopin, Schumann, Wagner-Liszt and Schubert-Tausig. In the lower left is a pencil sketch of the profile of a male playing a piano. The man’s eyes are closed, he has a thick head of hair and is wearing a dark suit with a collared shirt.

Commentary
George Proctor was a gifted musician and friend of Isabella Stewart Gardner. He taught piano at the New England Conservatory, where he also performed. Isabella likely attended this recital with her friend, artist Louis Kronberg, who sketched George Proctor at the pianoforte playing Chopin. She saved the program and displayed it in the Musicians Case in the Yellow Room.
