This vertical bookplate is printed with ink on cream-colored paper. It bears a coat of arms held between two animals, possibly griffins, with taloned front legs and large-pawed back legs, beaks, wings, long tails, and crowns that they wear around their necks. Both animals stand with the foot closest to the crest propped on an anchor and the other on a banner. Above the coat of arms is a large, decorated crown, and below it is a twisting banner with the words “Valet Anchora Virtus” written. Coming from the top center of the banner is a floral decoration. The coat of arms is rectangular with a decorative border and is split into four sections, each section decorated differently with lines, stripes, and circular ornamentation. Below the coat of arms “Lord Gardner” is written in cursive.
