Web Commentary
This newspaper clipping features a snapshot of Henry James walking beside the author J.M. Barrie in London. In a gossipy tone, the caption notes that Barrie and James are “members of the same club,” but had gone together only once “into the barber’s room to be shaved.” Gardner collected children’s books and would have been familiar with Barrie’s most famous character, Peter Pan.
