This is a pair of European gilded wrought iron pair of torcheres, or floor lamps. Standing at three feet tall, each lamp has intricately decorated feet featuring scrollwork that curves up at the end. A creature sits on the horizontal support of each foot. These creatures have the head and chest of a human, the lower of a snake-like animal, the hooved feet of an ox, and the wings of a bat; each torchere has two male creature and one female. Scrollwork continues up the center columns. Two thirds of the way up cherub-like, wingless, figures sit on the scrollwork in different pose, three on each torchere. At the top of each column is a large cup with crown-like edges used to hold a candle.
