This is an Indian ruby ring in an intricate gold setting from the 14th century. The sides of the ring have vine-like strands that curl up the shoulders, at times standing apart from the band. The center of the ring is built up with the stone held in a gold rim, known as a bezel setting. The setting forms a wide scalloped frame around the ruby. The stone is a dark ruby red with its facets visible when viewed from above.
